Fort Lauderdale Beach

Fort Lauderdale is very close to the town I am currently living in. My job is right near the beach in Fort Lauderdale. One of my favorite things about it is the vast amount of people that Fort Lauderdale Beach brings in. When I first moved here I suspected it would be full of vacationers, but never did I think about the different stories behind each one.
The grocery store I work at, Publix, serves many many yacht orders a day. I have met people from New Zealand to South Africa to Brazil and Japan. All of which either work on a yacht or own one. It is fun each day to listen to the stories of their travels and see the amount of groceries and other things it takes to run a  yacht for a week or two.
Okay enough about yachties, back to the beach.

There is something about the ocean, the wide open ocean. The noise, the smell, the heat. It's like a natural Prozac.
If you can't be happy staring at the ocean, you won't be happy anywhere.
There are a few interstates that head north and south through East FL. The most popular? The turnpike = tolls and the other popular one is 1A, this is the tourist highway. If you are looking to cruise and sight see, take 1A. Right down the coast and you'll get your fill of crashing waves and dive shops.
You can really stop anywhere, either park for free or other parking is surprisingly cheap. You can simply stroll the beach at any stopping point.

Who knows? You may even find your soul mate. Met a guy one early morning who is on the hunt for one. Description follows:

His name is Ronny, 65. He said he is just looking for a sexual soul mate for he and his bird. Also said he is going to start a parrot's playboy for his 24yr old gal.

Just never know what you are going to run into at 8 a.m. on the beach ;)
