Any Islanders here?
Even if you are not an "Islander" per se, you have been an Islander at one time or another. According to the friendly locals, it takes about 30 seconds of island tunes, a rum and punch and BAM, you have been "island initiated."
There is something about the feeling of an island. The feng shui, the chilled-out way of living just captivates you.
And well, it helps that it is absolutely gorgeous in the Keys.
Sister Kaela and I drove down to have dinner at Jimmy Johnson's Big Chill and a night of fun...
We will just leave it at a night of fun...we got crazy, like everyone does in the Keys. I have a feeling finding a lime down my shirt the next morning was the least our nightly events.
The next morning we decided to explore a little bit and drove further south. We ended up in Key Islamorada at Robbie's.
We saw a sign that said, "Feed Tarpon Here!" So of course...we had to feed a few fish. I think the farm girls in us were missing chores, hear that mom and dad?
I expected small fish nibbling the water as I threw little bait fish in. Um....no, they scared the hangover right out of me. These fish were 80+ lb and jumped straight out of the water to eat out of our hands.
We bought bucket after bucket at $2 a piece and had quite the time. Cheap entertainment I would say.
The entire Island experience was a fond one and I am sure I will be back soon. Until then, I will see that Key Largo sunset in my dreams.
Moccasin Approved.
